Schoolarship Offer: Quantum and Classical Cryptography Integration.

Application deadline

April 15, 2024

Type of contract

Employment

Workplace: Center for Computational Simulation (CCS), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Campus de Montegancedo , Avenida de Montepríncipe C.P. 28660 Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, España.

Line of research: The scholarship will be mainly framed in the QSNP (Quantum Secure Network Partnership) research project.
The candidate will work on the design and operation of the so-called “trusted nodes” of a quantum communications network as well as on associated topics in the integration of quantum communications in secure communications networks and infrastructures. It will study cryptography schemes that help mitigate the conditions required of these network elements in a balance between computational cost and security. Work will also be done, within the “Software-defined networks” paradigm, to improve the security and robustness of quantum key transport.

Experience required: The candidate should have good programming knowledge, especially in Python, C/C++ and Bash. It is desirable that you are familiar with Linux systems. It is also desirable that the candidate have knowledge of classical cryptography and security. We will also assess the candidate’s ability to work in a team and on their own initiative, as well as their ability to communicate and write technical documentation.

Others: We are looking for motivated people willing to research the integration of quantum communications in modern telecommunications networks based on new paradigms such as SDN and NFV.

Conditions:

  • 5 months duration, with expected start date: 01/05/2024.
  • 20 h/week (part time).
  • 550 gross €/month.
