This Special Section contains the five best papers originally submitted to the Spanish Conference on Computer Graphics (CEIG), 2019. The 29th edition of CEIG was organized by Vicomtech, and held in Donostia/San Sebastian (Spain), from June 26-28, 2019. The conference received 20 full and 8 short paper submissions, from which 13 were accepted as full conference papers, 5 were accepted as Computers & Graphics journal articles, and 9 were accepted as short communications.
The goal of this annual conference, sponsored by the Spanish Section of the Eurographics Association, is to promote discussion between researchers and practitioners of Computer Graphics and related areas in Spain, to disseminate recent advances in the field, and to present and discuss ongoing work. The conference traditionally includes regular paper sessions, invited talks presenting high-quality recent work, short paper, and poster presentations, and keynote talks from internationally renowned speakers in all areas of visual computing. New this year, the five best papers were not included in the conference proceedings and, after a rigorous, complete two-cycle peer-review by no less than three experts in the field, are published in this Special Section. These papers were selected with the advice and help of last year’s CEIG’18 Program Chairs (Prof. Carlos Ureña and Prof. Ignacio García-Fernández), and cover a wide range of subfields within Computer Graphics, including texture synthesis for repeatable patterns such as cloth [3], image manipulation using polarization [1], efficient collision detection in high-resolution meshes [4], interaction in virtual reality [2], and interactive rendering in the context of transient imaging [5].
