Schoolarship Offer: QKD research in cooperation with Huawei.

Workplace: Center for Computational Simulation (CCS), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Campus de Montegancedo). Avenida de Montepríncipe P.C. 28660 Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, España.

Line of research: The fellowship will be part of a research project in cooperation with the industry for the integration of quantum communication devices in real networks. At the outset, the tasks will consist of:
1) Definition of relevant metrics and parameters for control and management of an experimental QKD device (key ratio, wavelength, etc.)
2) Integration of a graphical web tool for analysis and visual control.
3) Front screen activation on the QKD device to display the chosen parameters.
4)Improvement of an interface based on the use of new network protocols focused on the management, metrics and control parameters of the device.

The job will require continuous interaction with Telefónica Research and Development as well as Huawei Research Germany (Munich)

Experience required: the candidate must have programming knowledge, especially in standard Frontend technologies such as javascript, html5, css and libraries such as bootstrap. It is highly desirable to have knowledge of backend, modern network communications, security and system administration.
Experience related to quantum communications, such as QKD, will be highly valued. We will assess the candidate’s ability to work in a team and on their own initiative, as well as their communication skills. We also expect some experience developing highly technologically-ready software.

Conditions:

  • 6 months duration, with expected start date: 15/12/2022.
  • 37.5 h/week (full time). *
  • 1.100 gross €/month. *

*The working day may be adapted to allow compatibility with the studies, adapting the salary according to the level of studies of the candidate (Degree, Master) and can vary between €500 for a part-time last year student of the degree (17.5h/week) and €1,100 for a full-time master’s student in last year (37.5h/week). The duration is expected to be extended up to 12 months. The initial duration will also be longer depending on the level of studies and the type of working day, since this offer has a budget that will be used in full for the scholarship.
