Researcher OpenStack Expert

We are looking for motivated individuals willing to do research in the integration of quantum communications in telecommunications networks.

The work will be part of the research project on quantum communications recently awarded by the Comunidad de Madrid and Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and other the associated projects when appropriate.

The candidate will work in the integration of Quantum Key Distribution systems and encryptors into production facilities following novel networks paradigm such as Software-Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization. Specifically, he/she will work on the integration of high-level services based on virtualization of network functions in quantum networks. The candidate will work on their assembly and deployment in a transparent way for the end user. He will also work on the development of classical security and network protocols in QKD networks.

The candidate will join the research group on Quantum Information and Computation (www.gcc.fi.upm.es) at the Center for Computational Simulation (www.ccs.upm.es).

Requirements:

• Master in Computer Science or equivalen
• Degree in engineering, computer science (or equivalent if relevant qualifications are presented)
• Good level on programing languages like Python, C and C+
• Previous experience on Quantum Communications, particularly with QKD devices (CV and DV).
• To be familiar with modern network paradigms like SDN and NFV as well as classical and quantum cryptographic techniques.
• Knowledge on transport and security protocols
• Experience on optical networks and classical and modern cryptographic systems and algorithm and remote system administration
• Some experience in the development of high Technological Readiness Level software development.
• Some expertise using tools like OpenStack, KVM as well as development frameworks like OpenSSL.
• Ability to work as part of a team, on his/her own initiative
• Excellent comunications skills in both Spanish and English

Conditions:

• The gross salary will be 26,500€/year.
• Expected duration: 30 months.
• The interviews will take place on the 10^th and 11^th of January 2022.
• Estimated start date 24^th of January 2022.
