We are currently offering a position to do research in the area of novel communications networks and quantum key distribution. We are looking for motivated individuals with a degree in engineering, computer science (or equivalent) willing to do research in quantum communications networks.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent if relevant qualifications are presented).
  • Be familiar with optical communications.
  • Good level of Englisgh.
  • We will value the candidate’s ability to work as part of a team, on his/her own initiative, and his/her comunications skills.

The work is part of the recently awarded OpenQKD: Open European Quantum Key Distribution Network. This project is considered as the initial phase of a far-reaching program that will create a Quantum Communications Network all over Europe, the Quantum Communications Infrastructure.

The candidate will get a profound knowledge in the integration and deployment of quantum key distribution networks and will work in a team that mixes university as well as industry led research. The work in the Madrid testbed, one of the 4 large testbeds defined in OpenQKD, will be in cooperation with Telefónica, the major telecommunication provider in Spain and RedIMadrid, the network provider for all research institutions in the Madrid region.

The position is for three years, extensible up to four if the candidate is willing to pursue a PhD.
